I have a general lee that I have installed in a freightliner dump truck. I can tune my antenna to 1.5-1 on ch 1&40 then wait a couple of days and my swrs will be like ch 1 2.5 ch 40 3.5. I have tried different mounts, coax, antenna's, with no luck. When I installed everything was new.

Have you tried to use a different meter??
-
Looks like antenna grounding is
what you should focus on to me.
Bracket to door metal, door metal
to body. Door hinges don't do the
Job of a flat braided strap. -
You wouldn't have bumped the band switch over would you? That can/will change the SWR if the antenna is not tuned for it.
-
I have tried two different meter with same results. I have run a 10ga wire from the antenna bracket to the door jamb. No on the band switch.
-
How long is that 10 gauge wire?
Flat braided strap is a lot better. -
What kind of antenna? Does it get worse during or after rain?
-
The 10 gauge wire is about 20" long. I have tried Hustler SCB center loaded and a firestick. No it stays about the same when raining I thought of that and changed my mount. Where is a good place to find the braided ground straps?
-
20 inches is to long, it has a tendency to radiate.
I have gotten ground straps from Nappa,
Google flat braided ground straps.
Or look on chargercharger.com
I just looked at www.chargercharger.com and there
under coax,cable, -
Bump for ground strap info.
Short ground straps are better than long ones.
