I haven't ever drove one. Let's see, I've driven Peterbilts, Kenworths, Freightliners, Macks, and Internationals......oh yeah a real old GMC with a 290 Detriot and a 13 speed!!! Now that was a hoot!!! (Could be his year model is different than what you were thinking about also.)

Yeah, let us know how it all comes out.

The last volvo I drove was an older model that have plastic covers over the mirror brackets/tubes. It was ten times easier to install new coax and still make it look factory. Just remove a few torx head screws to remove the covers, remove a few dash peices. Pull the coax through the dash then follow the factory routing outside of the mirror tubes, zip tie it to the tubes and install the covers. No removing connectors to try and fish the coax through the tubes etc. Run some ground strapping to make sure every thing had a good ground and boom, you had a properly working antenna system.
Now the 379 I am in. There is no way to fish the coax through the mirror tubes without removing the connectors. You have to remove the door pannels, tear the over head apart to get inside to unstrap the factory coax, since it is fastend to the frame work with strapping then do your install, using some wire or weedeater string to pull the coax through the tubing, cab pillar etc. Not my cup of tee. Currently, my coax is routed through the vent wing window, then stuffed behind the windshield mounding around the windshield up to the CB. It is zip tied to the outside of the mirror tube. -
Thanks guys. I just got home and had a chance to read the thread. I'll have to try some things when I get back to the truck. I don't have an ohm meter though.

There is this...K40 Coax with removable connector on one end and weather boots.

And it works just as good as coax fished thru the mirrors, doors etc.!

Since so many took the time to respond I figured I'd update.
After tightening up all of my mountings (the perch, mounting bracket, and the antenna itself) and then shortening the stinger to where it's about 1/4 inch from it's lowest position, I got down to the best numbers I could get at the moment. 1.5 on Ch 1, 1.6 on 20 and 1.8 on Ch 40. I can live with that for now as the radio is definitely performing better than it did before. -
That is great! Even if you get it lower, you won't notice any difference. Unless I talked a lot on 40 I'd be done with it if it was mine. If you do try to make it better, I would be very careful and not cut too much at a time off of the stinger.
