Where is your antenna mounted? The mount has to be grounded to the truck directly, not through a wire. Did you use the nylon washer in with the new stud?

I did use the nylon washer but I did take it out because that seemed to work for a brief moment. I run a KW T600 so the mount is on the mirror mounts. Should I run a ground wire from the Ant to a ground on the truck?
-
No, you don't want the antenna grounded, you want the mount grounded. The nylon washer goes in between the antenna side of the stud and the mount to insulate the antenna from ground.

See if you can find a similar truck setup with a good SWR and swap parts. I found I had a bad antenna that had never been used. The coax was bad, too, but new coax didn't fix the bad antenna.
SWR with an antenna I got off a junk pile is very good across the band, and I can talk for minutes meeting someone on a 2 lane going the opposite direction instead of maybe a minute.
It's working almost too good now.
