Well I survived NYC. My drop before in Phili almost screwed me though. The appt in Phili was so late in the morning I just made it to the 90 with a 45 min to spare. Then raced out of there as quick as the traffic would let me to head home. Thank goodness I was empty heading home or my fuel mileage would be sucking right now.
First day of home time picked up my load to be delivered on Friday. Luckily it was only 30 min from the house, so the whole day wasn't wasted but had to leave out on Thursday to meet my appt at the 90 not sure if that is really home time or an extended break near the house. Think I need to ask for a few more days in the next home time request. Can't complain though wife, kids, dogs and cats all were glad to see me. I just didn't get a lot of that honey do list done that is way far behind. -
Seems like that's all there is when you get home. In our experience, all the stuff that *I* can't do (fixing the timing belt, heavy lifting, fixing the pickup) gets saved up till JCW gets home....then he gets to get all that WORK done while he's here. Actually, we had a pretty relaxing 4th, since he'd been home for his reset less than a week and a 1/2 earlier. THAT one was fun. Fix the truck, and get new rubber all the way around. Fix the car. Run out to mom's (100 miles one way) spend 4 hours chasing cows....that didn't work out so well. When the bull started pawing at the ground, we called off moving the cows. His next actual home time (10 days *squee*), hazmat test, attempt number 2 at moving bovines, and taking care of Momma (that's ME.)
Can't say much bad about Prime. But I've seen him more in the last 3 weeks than I have in the last 6 months combined. There is much to be said for taking his 10 at the house, (where I can feed up the scrawny lil' man). Or, picking him up at the Hook in T-Town, and driving up to Owasso for dinner. This makes me VERY happy, and it's nice to know that if there is absolutely something I can't handle schedule-wise (I can't get 4 people in 3 different places at the same time. I've tried. You don't want to know what I looked like), he can usually get a load this way, and give me a hand. The overall situation sucks hardcore, but knowing that he won't be in Maine when the brown stuff hits the rotating object eases my mind a great deal. -
Good job getting in n out of NYC w/o having a major issue. Thats always an accomplishmentda1 Thanks this.

Well got my next home time set see how that one goes.
Pallet loads suck I kept tighting the straps at every stop and they still kept swaying on every bump in the road. -
I take the load out of Oswego any day. 15 min from the house quick to tiedown no tarping and easy 800 + miles to the 90.
-
Never done a pallet load, but Ive heard about um. Yall can keep those
-
Now that I have done one. I agree "yall can keep" them but not much I can say. Just running everything I can to get the miles and keep the truck movin.

My FM seems to have other things he wants me to haul so.... I take those
