Well I drive for sysco out of Kingston on, been with the company 10 years 5 warehouse and 5 driving now. I have a clean cpik and cvor/abstract , I'm thinking of looking for a new job in trucking but I'm not sure if companies will hire
Me.
I'm very confident in my driving skills, I used to back into Tim hortons stores at 6 am rush hour lol, that's tough.
In the last 6 months sysco seems to be going to #### in more ways than I can explain, mostly corporate penny pinching at the drivers expense.
Plus there pushing us to be o/o. No way not at sysco.
Just wondering what optiOns in driving jobs with my experience.

I thought Sysco paid good?
-
Didn't Tims open a new distribution center in Kingston recently?
-
Yes, I did apply at tims got an interview but that was it.
We lost the time account once they opened thr new warehouse.
I loved working at sysco I made 75000 a year for the last 4 years and working only 4 days a week maybe 11 hour shifts.
But I'm 29 and my back is already Sore all the time. Not sure what I'll feel like at 40.
Plus there making the trailers harder to offload, -
McDonald's has some local delivery that does the same thing. Might also look at The Beer Store. Not sure what is local around your area. Depends how willing you are to give up the daily home time. Would hate to see you go out on the road, hate it, then be stuck because Sysco won't take you back.
-
He won't like the road>he's used to making money!
He made as much per year as the best door swingin' OTR guys and slept in his own bed EVERY night.
I feel your pain Peddler1983, stay working for a private fleet. For hire trucking is cheap!Nothereoften Thanks this. -
Well, if Tim hortons never calls me back I was wondering about Cooney.
Know of a few people who work there and they like it.
The 75000 a year was because of the incentive to offload the trailer fast, but there just making it harder and harder to beat the roadnet times.
It is nice to pull into the scales in a sysco truck though, cause they always put the leave light on before I get weighed lol. -
Peddler1983>you're in for a drastic pay cut going OTR. You will lose 33% of your gross earnings. Isn't there anything else down there? Is GFS down that way? I know Flanagan runs out of Kingston. You will have more uncompensated time than you can imagine running the highway!
Nothereoften Thanks this. -
No real advice. Just wanted to chime in on recent observation. Currently taking the AZ course out of North Bay, and Sysco had four sheets on the counter looking for drivers. I thought it was odd, but it make sense now.
-
Yea, they have a good turn around sometimes, I had a trainee once
He told me he just sold his peterbilt and wanted to come drive for us.
He lasted a week. They can defiantly chew up new drivers, especially if your a resident driver.
