The hardest part I thought about the job was trying to figure where to go and where they wanted everything put at.
They never loaded the truck right, stop 5 would be in front of stop 1 so you would be tearing apart full pallets trying to get to your items and when your trailer is packed full with no where to put anything makes it a pain.
You wouldn't know what you were working the next day till about 530 the night before. You would start anywhere between 3a to 7a and could work til 6 to 8pm. After you got done on the truck with your trainer they will send you back out in a van to help others who are running short on hours. I lost about 30lbs in a month. You ran your butt off.
The Sysco I worked for had a 26% retention rate I believe. I think it was one of the most unorganized operations I have ever been part of.

The hospital.
3 times a week, unload an entire 53 ft trailer into a hospital by hand truck. Takes all day.
Nuclear power plants.
You sit around most of the day waiting for security to check through everything on the truck. Then you spend the rest of the evening rolling it in.
Schools.
Easy.
Restaurants.
They dont want you there at 5am. They don't want you there during the breakfast rush. They dont want you there during the lunch rush. They quit receiving at 230pm. Then they are mad when they don't have groceries for breakfast tomorrow. But you show back up at 5am and they turn you away.
Believe it or not, i had a customer like that. This dinky restaurant in Ft Payne,AL. Left Chattanooga and got to Ft Payne at 5am central. They were open but refused the order because it was too early. So, I'd go to Montgomery AL, Bay MinetteAL, Pensacola, New Orleans and Baton Rouge...come back through the following afternoon at 230pm, and theyd refuse because its too late. Screw it, I'd head to the house. Then they dont have groceries and they call complaining. Some salesman asked if I could come back to get them after i leave Bay Minette. Guess he's never been one for map reading. "Sure friend. Its only a question of money." My boss, who was a driver turned deskjockey, said Hail No.
Curses, foiled again. -
