Going into the 200 division. Really wanted to do the OTR division. Eventually wanna get into the pole fleet. Told it would take about 6 months of on time delivery and safety to pop in there. :/
Hasn't been too bad. We've been using the stand around time to do VI's. We also get to go ride alongs. I'm not too worried about it![]()

If your class size isn't too large, it may not be an issue. I was in a big class following a big class so actual operation time was minimal... you might get to do a backing maneuver 2 or 3 times before turning the wheel over to the next guy, and you might not get another chance to work on that one for the rest of the week.
Hopefully you don't have that frustration.
Being an Idaho resident, I did my actual testing over at Sage in CDA. One thing the testers over there had to say is that DTS students rarely flunk the vi. -
Alrighty peeps:
Update for Week #2:
Sad news, due to possible retraining of the state CDL tester, my graduation date may be pushed to the very end of august instead of Aug 14th
DTS is doing their best to find an impartial state tester, but who knows.
DTS:
First half of week was finishing up a lovely text book we received. Don't really know why we went through it, the info was very very light. Guess it must have been a course requirement. Wasn't too bad tho. We also received a bunch of paper practice tests for the Hazmat/Tank/Doubles & Triples. I literally mean a bunch. Learned a lot on how to properly fill out a paper log. What needs to be on there and what not. DTS really does try to cover most of what you will need to do.
Now the fun part is we really got to delve into actually doing the driving aspect! Got my straight line backing down. Worked on the offset (More or less parallel parking), and the 90 degree backing (Alley dock). The 90 is by far the most complicated, but I really only got to practice for a couple hrs on it, so I think it will get significantly better.
We also we taken on the road this week. I. Hate. Double. Clutching. I was absolutely horrible on it my first day. Like you wouldn't believe. 2nd day I did so much better. The instructors are hit or miss. One is incredibly helpful. The other is not so much. I was advised to talk with Pat or Doug if I had a problem with one of the instructors. SO we'll see what happens.
Overall, my class is progressing nicely.
System Transport:
Curtis was back from vacation this week and came overt to visit us/do a little recruiting. Been talking to him about possibly starting out in a different fleet and he was going to get me some numbers from his fleet managers so I could make a better decision. Already have a trainer good to go and he suggested I keep that trainer and just let him know what my intentions are going to be as we get closer to my graduation date.
Good week, lots accomplished. T-minus a month! -
Took me some practice to not push down so far on the clutch and engage the clutch brake while shifting.Airborne Thanks this.
