Wow, really?! Back that truck up right now.
1. My response to the above statement was half smart ##### and half just being nice and moving on. The first thought that came to mind after reading the pay sheet was; wow, I hate to see a new driver take the first job he finds right out of school. Think out of the box! Quit continuing to take low ball job offers. Some of my first driving jobs were also the highest paying jobs I ever had. But I erased all that on my post and just let it be.
2. I never said I was actively looking for a specific job or company! Occasionally, I pop in and do research on things from time to time!
3. Normally, I do not respond to defensive, petty, and negative things. However, this one got under my skin a bit. Do not put words in my mouth!
4. Kinda ironic how this thread has been dead since 01/2013. I make 1 observation, and bam! its on.
Finally, I believe in this occupation. We as drivers need to come together and find the good in this industry and help fix the bad. It can be done! I thought I was was trying to help a fellow driver by pointing out that the proposed pay appeared low in accordance to industry standard. Thanks, I will now take my leave of this thread and continue on with my adventures. Ladies and Gentlemen, be safe and take care.......Bill

Well if you choose system I think you will be very happy... I may be a tad bias (?sp) but you will not find too many unhappy people here... the pay may be cheap for just starting out but I started out at the same rate and went up 3 and a half cents per mile within 6 months so you can advance fairly easily...

Fresh out of school and many truckers recommended System. I live in Spokane so I went straight to the main terminal. The Recruiter asked what I wanted, and found the regional route that best suits me. 4-5 days per week, with weekends off. Some border crossing (border pay?) And I'm happy with the starting pay. I will gladly sacrifice cpm for Northwest routes and family time.
I start orientation this Monday. I read about it on this thread but that was 5 years ago. What can I expect? How soon will training start? He said I'll start training Monday but maybe he forgot about orientation....jomar68 Thanks this. -

was just in the yard for a couple minutes to get some fuel then headed south with a load of aluminum... might be good to have a normal thread about system start up
Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
If you're going northwest regional, you can expect to put in anywhere from 14 to 18 hours a day, 6 days a week.
"Weekends off" really means rolling in to the yard late Friday night and leaving Sunday morning for Monday delivery in Canada/Portland/Seattle or rolling in sometime Saturday and delivering in Spokane 8:00 Monday morning.jomar68 Thanks this. -
I don't mind 18 hour days, but how is that possible with e-logs? -
Well, good luck with that. I've been driving Northwest Regional for two years and from what I've seen, it doesn't work that way.
I wrote "14 to 18". 18 is extreme, but not impossible. Most days you'll only be running up against your 14 hour USA clock or your 16 hour Canada clock.
Example:
Show up at the yard Sunday morning expecting to hit the road and find out your truck is in the shop for servicing. Six hours later you get to drive 12 hours to Edmonton to make your Monday morning delivery.
Example:
Spend two hours messing around in the yard trying to get on the road, then spend 16 hours trying to get as close to Saskatoon as you can before you have to shut it down.
I could keep going, but I'll let you and your trainer explore other possibilities.Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
Thanks for the response. This will definitely be a learning experience.

Canada lets you boogie, that's for sure.
