I'm about to finish driving school in Stockton, Ca and I've been given a pre hire committment from this company and can't find anything current here about them. Anyone out there have any comments on this outfit. My school seems to think they're one of the top companies out there. Thanks.

No, they are are full of it, Curtis, Mike, Brianna will BS till sign 6 months then charge you 466. If you really need to earn. Do not go with System, Unless desperate. You might get 800 per week, if lucky

Thanks jrwork. Have you worked for them and know from personal experience? Their training pay is higher than anyone's and that's probably how they lure you, however the training period seems to be longer than anyone's. I'm seriously considering Gordon now. It looks like they are starting to hire out of the schools again.

well i work for system transport. they are a great company. The training is longer but they like you to get all the training before sending you on your own. on a slow week i get 2500 miles a week. So dont just take i guys word on it. they have been great to me and when i want home time they get me there. any other ? ask.

Ther is no contracts with systems and i dont know any reason why they charged you any money. because there is no charge. They pay your way to spokane, put you up in motel, transportation to and from yard. for 3 day orientation and then you go with your trainer. call them and find out details.

Thanks Buckshot
I think now my biggest concern is the heavy work involved with flatbeds. I've got a few years on me and not sure I'm able to do this for any length of time. What's it really like muscling those heavy tarps around? Thanks for the good report. -
Flatbed is a love hate relationship. Besides tarping and worrying about every piece that could possibly fall off the trailer or shifting...I just dont think I could drive a sissy van ever again. IMO people (shippers-cosignees) treat me better than when i was driving Van or Phnuematics. Tarping isnt that bad, it just takes a longer and sometimes you have to re-ajust!! Usually a forklift will put the tarps atop of your load. But some times your screwed and have to do it yourself. Thats really the hardest it can get.. unless you haul glass in u shaped frames..and the only thing holding your tarp up are poles that like to rip through em...now that sux! IMO of course! -
its not as bad as all the box guys make it out to be. The thing about flatbed is you pick up and delv. 95% of the time during the day unlike box or ref. the loads i haul i load 1 day takes 1 to 2 hours to tarp and then you drive 3 or 4 days and off load so you are only working with the tarps 2 to 4 times in a week. wont lie it can be tough at times but i wiegh 380 lbs and i still get out there and throw the straps, chains and tarps so hope that helps. still would put on tarps 2 times a day before i would pull a box.
Airborne Thanks this. -
