See and I had to learn that from another driver. That makes me angry. This is probably a crazy statement but I've been running this dedicated longer than anyone and it would be nice to feel appreciated every now and then

Unless your spread slides, I thought spreads weren't allowed into Canada?
-
The back axle slides forward on them
Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
Alright, I figured as much.

Yeah... They also bought some 48' steps now which are super nice. I pulled one down to Bloomington a couple weeks ago and it was nice

Gonna be a Hail Mary on this next run, picking up in Panama City fl on Saturday with drops in Corpus Christi tx and Phoenix along the way finalling in Modesto ca by Friday all the while rolling hrs off my 70.
Sitting in dalton ga right now, don't have enough hours to fight Atlanta traffic so I'm going through in the middle of the night. Good times!ramblingman and Rugerfan Thank this. -
The company gets you home every Saturday. You got a new Pete upon request and you are allowed to take 2 weeks off at a time.
Your issue here isn't the company. It's your DM that's pissing you off and that's unlikely to change. I set a new record weekly gross avg of $1204 during my 2 1/2 weeks with him, but everything is a struggle with him and he took constant micromanagement and lots of hardball to make things work as well as they did.
What's your window looking like according to your trip plan?
I got about a 3 hour window on this 2000 mile run which annoys me to no end. They give us tight deadlines like this then tie our hands with E-logs with GPS tracking plugged into the ECM so you can't even spare a second. Then a 65mph truck to boot.
It's like telling a carpenter you want a house built in 4 days, but he can only use a handsaw for the construction.
No way around it sometimes though. Few flatbed shippers/receivers open on weekends. -
That's true it isn't the company I have an issue with at all. Before I had this DM I always ran and never switched trailers and I was happier. But I've cooled down now and am ok. I only took two weeks because it was vacation time but I got a call a week or so ago saying that we can't do that anymore so next year will just be a week off. When I really look at it the company has been great to me and I try to do my best to prove to them I am a good, safe, dependable driver. I often wonder sometimes how much of the switching around and things are the planners or my DM. In the end I do like that I am left alone and only call in when I am empty or need some fuel somewhere. On the issue I had yesterday I bit my tounge and didn't call in complaining I just left it to vent to you guys. If something really gets to me which this did at first I want to just punch someone's lights out but in the end I never call and complain. I really do want to be the guy they can turn too on this special run when they need something.
ramblingman Thanks this. -
If anyone can appreciate a good vent its me
. I'd be careful about playing too nice though especially with your current DM. After all this is a for profit company. It only makes sense that we make a profit to. These are my #'s with your dispatcher with careful management and some hardball mixed in.

I'm conducting a study on my latest DM that is somewhat comparable to your method of not complaining to dispatchers. At this point I've worked with every single DM on the OTR fleet and the one I'm currently with is the most senior in the company. If i can't make it work with him I'll probably just leave at my 1yr anniversary in a couple months. Anyways my study is I am completely leaving him to his own devices. I'm asking for absolutely nothing and letting him operate however he wishes. No hardball and no management by me whatsoever. I've minimized contact between us to as little as possible to minimize my impact on the experiment. If he fails or succeeds it will be completely of his own Accord.
The results of the study thus far as shown below
