Just about ready to transfer over to JJW. I call our recruiting lady to ensure I'm not going to lose my 2 weeks of paid vacation I've earned with Systems. I'm informed that because JJW is a local/regional job I will only get 1 week of paid vacation once I transfer over their.

So I ask if I can use 1 now before I transfer and then 1 more once I'm over at JJW as I've earned 2 weeks paid vacation with Systems Transport. It's understandable that I will only earn 1 per year for my future at JJW.

I'm informed that if I use 1 now I will have nothing over at JJW essentially they are attempting to steal one week of paid vacation I have earned and promised me. She states she is not completely sure on this and will ask the right people, but cannot get me an answer today as the right people are all gone... It was 2pm. She goes on to say that she can probably not even get an answer this week as it's so late in the week. It's Tuesday afternoon...

Is it just me or does it feel like this company is trying to screw you at every twist and turn they can? It's really getting to be exhausting...

I'm planning on moving over to JJW the tanker side of trans-systems inc. I've been told that i can start whenever I'm ready, but I'm talking with a couple other companies just in case.

A friend back home who has family in management at a beer distributing company offered me a job doing local work that would get me home every night. 20 bucks an hour to start + OT after 40 and full benefits, weekends off paid holidays/vacation etc...

I left my home for a reason though and I'm really not interested in going back except to visit family.

Good luck to you Ramblingman and thanks for the thread. What's are the healthcare benefits like and the costs for a family of four. Also, I have family in the Caldwell/Boise Id area. Will I be able to take my home time in that area? What about the truck? It's in a residential area. I'm looking at the OTR flatbed division and I currently live in N Cali.

For you, wife and 2 kids it would be $843 per month and our healthcare is horrible. Before Obamacare passed alot of our drivers just paid cash for their doctors needs because it's cheaper than using our health insurance unless you get hurt really bad.

We don't have any yards in the Boise Area so officially the answer is no unless you drop the truck in Spokane and drive down. Unofficially,we do have some drivers who live so far away from company yards they have to take the truck home and it's not a big deal. I've left my truck at a truck stop and gone home for 5 days with no problems, but they do frown upon it a bit. The truck is a mid roof so it's 11' 6" IIRC therefore you should clear all structures in the subdivision, but sometimes you have to swerve around low hanging trees in my experience.

For a driver new to the industry or flatbedding I think this is the best possible place you could be. If you have over 1 yr experience and your still working here then you need to look long and hard at why. Most the long term guys working here live in the north west where there's not much opportunity for jobs so they stay here. If your looking to advance your career though you need to be out of here at your 1 year anniversary. If you do stick around past the 1 year mark you will only gain a .5cpm raise per year dependent on a review not even enough to beat inflation.

    Good luck :D.

Thanks for the information, hearing it from an experienced driver really helps put things in a realistic perspective.

Stuck with systems for 60 more days.FML...

Systems ops mgr convinced the JJW ops mgr that I needed to play nice with Systems for 90 days before they would let me go. IE follow fuel solution and turn in paperwork sooner.

Everyone knows my opinion on the fuel solution already. I spent 20 minutes waiting to fuel at the pilot in weed 2 nights ago for free and will be driving 10 miles oor for free to fuel at the fj in kansas. I don't turn in paperwork until my extra pay is sent, but I'm a driver so naturally I'm at fault for everything.

I'm thinking I'm gonna use those 2 weeks of paid vacation in the next 60 days ;).
