Rugerfan,
HI! I am out of Rocklin, CA. and I am waiting on Curtis to give me a call back. I am waiting on him to get all my paper work from CA so that I can move forward to see if I can get on board with TWT. Out of the 14 months that you have been with system how has it been? I am also thinking about giving Schneider a shot. My instructor from truck driving school worked for them and he said he would go back to Schneider once his wife gets back on her feet. -
DJGuam, ramblingman and MJ1657 Thank this.

I have been with System for about seven months now and I have mixed feelings about the carrier.
First of all, this is definitely a company for rookie drivers. It is way too structured and micro-managed for veterans. They are adamant about their "fuel solution", which tells you where to fuel and how much to buy. You could actually be told to fuel up to three times in a 500 mile run. As veterans know, you could spend anywhere from 20-60 minutes on the fuel island, which is frustrating enough without it burning time off your e-log. The fuel solution almost never coincides with the routing and neither of those even comes close to the actual paid mileage. I've seen deficits by as much as 100 miles, which you are expected to drive without compensation to save a few pennies per gallon and seem unconcerned with any experience a veteran driver has with the route they want you to take. With that kind of business ethic, it's no wonder they can afford the new equipment!
Since I brought up equipment, let's talk about that for a moment. I have to say this: They really try. They keep up with service and maintenance issues but seem to have no regard for drivers while the trucks or trailers are down. I was placed in a 2015 KW right out of orientation which didn't make it out of Spokane. The second truck, in five weeks, was sent to five different KW and Cummins shops. In that time frame, I drove about 6000 miles. Try explaining that to your mortgage banker, let alone your wife! I was in three 2015 tractors in 6 weeks, while I became the "guinea pig" for the new DEF system. The newer trailers are slowly trickling their way into the Texas fleet but the rest of the equipment leaves a lot to be desired (i.e. Tarps with so many holes they're a joke to use, old chain boomers instead of ratchets, etc) and the powers that be once again are hard to take suggestions from veteran drivers who say, may know of tarp companies locally who could repair and or replace the ragged tarps or take heed to equipment changes which might alleviate torn straps and damaged cargo for certain customers. As I said, this is a good company for rookie drivers but they have difficulty dealing with experienced drivers, unless that experience was obtained working for System Transport.
All-in-all, it's a fine company to work for. They have payroll issues but all big companies do. They've always been happy to work with me on any issues I've experienced and the people are great. I am a Texas-Regional driver, which is still relatively a new addition to the company. There have been personnel issues but you find that everywhere too. They seem to want to help you succeed, if you are willing to play by their rules and accept them without question or comment! The E-Logs are an unfortunate wave of the future and I like them, to the extent that they alleviate a tremendous amount of paperwork! But coupled with a truck governed at 65 mph, makes efficient transport a challenge, to say the least! One or the other is fine but both? Let's just say it strains your trip-planning to its maximum.
The trucks have many safety features such as forward-firing vorad, which can be extremely annoying but is simple to bypass, if you are so inclined and Qualcomm warnings for any and all things it deems necessary. But they do have refrigerators, APU's (when they work!) with built-in inverters and power windows, mirrors and door locks, which is pretty cool.
Most of my issues are in regard to their incessant micro-managing. Most of us enjoy trucking careers because for the most part, we are our own boss. All of us have supervisors and System's driver support is top notch. They have accounts with major manufacturers and distributors and I have no complaints in that department. But I think I will be looking elsewhere for maybe a smaller outfit with a more "hands-free" policy.
There's my review, take it or leave it.MJ1657, DJGuam and ramblingman Thank this. -

Good to see you guys are laughing! But the reason I asked that was because on his profile it had him as online! So! You two so called truck drivers grow the #### up!! Instead of being supportive to people who are wanting to know more about a company you two Dickheads want to be smart #####!!

Thanks for the pea-brained insults by the way, ha, telling others to grow up... that's rich! -
Same here I meant no insults to the guy that wasn't paying attention. I just pictured the movie in my head. I love that part.
Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Hey fellas sorry I haven't been on recently. Fall run for the cattle has been insane. I Recently bought a new truck, a 2001 Kenworth w900 with a signature 600 hp isx and 18 speed double overdrive in it. Things are finally slowing down a little bit here so I may start dragging my stepdeck again to boost the income a little bit until spring run kicks off.
I left System on very good terms luckily. I still have Brett call me occasionally to check up on me and offer to dispatch me if I wanted to bring my truck on under their gold fleet which would actually work out pretty well. I have a good customer base in the Midwest but nothing to get me out there so I could broker a genie out to Gary or something like that then pull my own customers freight back.
So we will see, I have been loving pulling cows but I miss the simplicity of running for Brett. He was the only dispatcher I dealt with there and him and rich really went above and beyond for me.
Sorry it ended on bad terms there for you, hopefully your next gig works better for you.ramblingman Thanks this. -
Tried to put a picture up wouldn't let me. Oh well. iPhone is really picky about that for some reason
DJGuam Thanks this.
