No what happened to me was what you might call "strong armed robbery"..

They take your property and refuse to give it back without a "Reward"..

When you simply thank them for returning your item(which they took and now posess) ..they insist on a "Reward" and the threats start and then it turns ugly with them usually destroying or throwing your items and running..

It has turned violent and people have been injured..
I called the cops and they said that scenario occurs almost everyday there..

In my case it was my cell phone that disappeared while I was having dinner
Then was "found" and reward demanded(by the thief)..

When I caught on to the scam I demanded my phone back and refused to pay the reward..thats when 2 other crooks showed up and it got ugly..
I asked them if they understood they were committing robbery by possessing a person property and demanding payment for its return..
I stood my ground and demanded my phone back n looked them right in the eyes and said NO!!
I hollered at someone to call the cops I wasnt playing their game..

They slammed my phone on the ground(breaking it)and ran off..
