Re-cored about a yr and a half ago. No oil temp gauge. I'm gonna flip the condenser out of the way and pull out the cooler. It probably has a bit of junk blocking it
-
If that doesn't help, next step is have cooling system pressure checked. Should be a port on the oil cooler to screw a gauge in,that will tell if it's the water pump.
-
I bet your right baha. It sounds like the air to air needs to be removed an everything cleaned.
-
Hope a scrubbing on the outside and a scrubbing on the inside will do the trick!
-
So you get a CEL if you don't turn the fan on prior to pulling a grade? Start with the easy stuff first....verify gauge accuracy compared to ECM reading.
-
If it's a hard enough pull, the temp will rise up to 220° and the fan comes on, BUT the temp will continue to rise till the shut down light comes on. And unless I back out of it, I mean to almost crawling up, it will shut down. So I've just got used to turning the fan on at the bottom. Then I can charge up and usually by the time it hits 220° or so, I'm at the top. That's why I was thinking about the water pump. But, I forgot about cleaning any possible crud out from the front of the core itself. Besides, other than time, it's free.

I would not rule out the thermostat either. I have had issues with them in the C13.
Also I think in 04 and newer there is not an oil temperature sensor. It is calculated by the ecm, factoring water temp engin load etc.
Also make sure the belt tensioner is working if it's the original replace it, I had a Volvo with an ISX acting similar due to a tensioner without enough tension.taxihacker66 Thanks this. -
