    Couple questions for the op:

Is it a company truck or your truck? How is it different driving on the right versus left? Also, what type of breaks do you get? Finally, do you have apu's and entertainment on your truck that you drive?

The T900 uses a similar cab with the square hood to allow a larger radiator package to be fitted as the heat up north and out west is intense to say the least.. Towing 3 trailers ( what this truck is primarily designed for) is stressful work.

At an average fuel consumption of between 1.1l and 1.3l per klm (2.5 to 3 mpg) for the big road trains, thats a lot of fuel used, and a long way between fuel stops!

not quite, As these have been adapted and redesigned almost completley to deal with the crap we throw at them...

Length laws, single trailer is limited to 62', b double are limited to 85'.. so there isnt room for a large bunk without breach, which the mongrels religioulsy look for.. the fines amount they hand out are insane!

Try reading comprehension, its a company owned truck as state in the OP.

How could we hope to compare difficulty/ease of driving on a different side of the vehicle/road if we havent tried it?

    and apu? entertainment? Not likley..
Apu's are only for the refrigerated AC we run up north to deal with the humidity, otherwise there are evaporative systems.

Entertainment is all you take with you. SOME guys have dvd players and such, but thats about it....

Agent66 is correct in all regards, of course! :)

The length laws over here are ridiculous! Being restricted to 19m overall length for a single means that you are restricted to smaller sleeper than you guys over in the states, although we do have prime movers with 50" bunks. This T900 that I drive was the very last one produced in Australia & therefore the company had no option in sleeper size (the sleeper is 36"). Get a bit squishy when I'm trying to sleep with my wife & 3 yr old there also! Doesnt happen very often though. There are companies over here who, if they could get away with it, would give their drivers about 3" to sit in & bugger the driver's comfort as long as they could get as large as possible trailer behind the primer mover. Im sure Agent66 would know the "fox" that I'm talking about! :))

The truck has 4 tanks (2 each side) each carries 450 litres. Total capacity 1800 litres.

The "guard" (bullbar) that you asked about, Ducks, helps to bounce off kangaroos, etc! The small(ish) 5' gray kangaroos make a big enough mess of the radiator, let alone what a large 7' red roo will do! A bar is almost a neccessity when your running out west particular (Sydney to Perth or northwest to Darwin). Even on the Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide runs you can get some fairly substanial road kill.

Regarding driving hours, Kinghunter, over here we can drive up to 14 hrs a day if under a fatigue management program or 12 hrs a day if under standard hrs. Am I correct in understanding that you guys are only allowed to drive 10hrs? How do you ever earn enough money?

I'll try to remember to get some interior pics.
And, yeah, its a company truck. I just drive the old girl!

Keep it shiny side up, everyone! Cheers! Hopefully I'll see some of you blokes if I can get the chance to drive over there. Any suggestions on who are good companies to drive for?
