By 'shear' do you mean share?

One example I can think of would be a mentor/trainer having the student driver use his points card when fueling.
Different fueling cards using the same points card, and that would be a no-no.

Bearings, hinges, latches, linkages, gearboxes, power steering systems, A/C systems, and hydraulic brakes & clutches all come to mind immediately.

And even though they're not moving parts, transformers need dielectric oil.

    JoeyJunk and tscottme Thank this.

You think the steering linkages on EVs aren't lubricated? They are lubricated by something even if they aren't greased like a 1948 Ford.

Yes, on EVs. Anytime two pieces of metal move while in contact with each other, they need to be lubricated.

according to google. There is no lubricated parts on steering.

Perhaps you could link something that says otherwise.

I've never seen a steering column that wasn't lubricated but I haven't taken apart any EVs. The bearings of the electric motors are likely lubricated, but maybe they come from Mars or something where friction isn't a thing. I mean they have sponges making cartoons so anything is possible I suppose.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.
