    if the case you are on a road side stop do you not need to be able to print logs to hand to the officer?

    With elogs you are required to have a laminated instruction card in the cab showing law enforcement how to retrieve HOS information. It's a penalty if you don't have the laminated instructions.

    True, and we have them, but some officer not only want to "see" them, they want a printed copy, being able to email them saves having a printer in every truck.

    No dumb questions, it is a learning curve, one that I am glad we got under our belt before it becomes mandatory.

    That is if the officer wants to be a real richard.

    These pics show how KeepTrucking app does it, plus shows the exact regulation that protects you from a richard officer.

    All you do is email/fax them. The officers have laptops in their vehicles and can open their email.

    Heres a question though. Don't you need internet access for you to email to an officer? What if you have a tablet thats not connect to mobile network?? If you must have mobile network access which costs what another 30 bucks a month?

    If you have a verizon plan, you may not need tablet internet access. You phone can become a hotspot for the wifi.

    Otherwise, just get a data-only tablet ($20/mo) from AT&T?

    @Ezrider_48501

    This PDF provides EVEN BETTER confirmation of using Apps that **allow** signing of logs

    In the clarification table:
    "Logging software and application device with electronic signature capabilities" = NO (as in print outs not needed)
