Day9/10 Done. Only one more week to go. The group that went on the road was back and they had a great experience. Also, they said that Woody is an excellent trainer. We spent the morning in the classroom. The rest of the day was spent on the range. The road group started backing maneuvers and my group was praticing our shifting. We go out on the road next week. Have a good weekend everyone and we'll be back on Tuesday.

Ok We just came back from our roadtrip. Left Richfield, Wi on monday and headed to West Allis, Wi to pick up a load of beer headed for the Millers' brewery in Hamilton, Oh. We had a 34000 pound load. Six of us went with Woody (a fantastically nice guy and a great trainer and tour guide). We each drove two hours. Sometimes we hit heavy rain sometimes very clear. Woody had us doing some two-lane country roads as well as the big roads. We learned alot of stuff from but one great tidbit was That Millis hauls 87% of Millers' bottles. We also learned some great bits of info about the company like Millis has an interest in one of Wisconsin's Kenworth dealers and the Kenworth has Millis testing new features on their trucks. I have learned some other interesting bits that tell me this is a well run organization. We even seen the Jesus statue (62feet high and 40 foot at the base) in Monroe, Ohio before it was struck by lightning and burned down to the ground. This morning we picked up an empty trailer to bring back to Richfield so Millis can get it ready to sell or scrap. This was a great learning experience all around. As far as training Woody is so calm and loaded with patience and a very good teacher. Tomorrow we do it all over again. See ya'll Thursday.

Glad its' going well - I told you Woody was "top notch"! Ive been rolling with my trainer since Saturday. 1st load was Trenton OH to Tampa FL with Beer. Got a pre-plan as soon as we hit empty. 2nd load is Albany GA to Blue Anchor NJ. Sitting in VA at a TS. I'm lovin it!

Hey Tocodog, please keep us updated on your experience with Millis. I've very interested in how you progress and would really like to know how you like it once you get on the road. See what your miles are and what your pay is like. I'm researching different companies and so far Millis seems like a good company to work for. Keep in touch!

sorry typo. And I take it you are in their school? I'm planning on going to a tech school close to me and hoping to get funding from the career link here.

redhawk, you are aware that unless you have one year driving experiance, you must go through MTI to get hired by Millis....right? They do not hire students out of other schools.
banjer picker Thanks this. -
They will hire students from other schools you will have to go through their school as well. RedHawk if you are interested in driving for Millis forget going to school and sign up with them right away. You won't pay double the price and you won't learn anything different at the trade school and you could be with a training driver in as little as 5 weeks.

Well days 13 and 14 have come and gone. Another roadtrip to Trenton, Ohio and back again. On the way down we had a little excitement when I was driving. It was near Streator, Ill where Millis has another yard. BANG!!! We blew a trailer tire, rubber flying everywhere, I gripped the steering tightly and brought the truck to a stop on the shoulder. We got out and looked. We jumped off the interstate and headed to the shop to get it fixed. We only lost an hour and a half and were back on the road in no time. I did some 2-lane country road driving today and that was fun. I felt like I was carving canyons only in a tractor trailer. All six of us learned quite a bit from Woody. He's one hell of of guy and an excellent trainer. Tomorrow is graduation day and then orientation is next week. Can't wait to start making some money. Goodnight all.
