if you were closer to me I'd tell you to get a used Schecter, (I want to sell mine) I like my strat better. LOL

as far as what to get I would stick to a mex strat or tele. used can be had for 250 - 300. new 400 - 500.

as far as the amp, I've been looking at roland cube amps. very small but awesome sound for a little amp. 129 at Sam Ash. I have a little 10 watter right now because I'm currently staying in my camper while on a contract job. The Roland Cube is so much better sounding then the 10 watt practice amp I have (it's a crate).

Hard cases can be had for 100 or a little less for a strat/tele style guitar. Mine bounces around in the camper with zero damage.

Heck, no! :biggrin_2559: But it'd be easier to listen to that one (three-chord!) song if they would learn to tune their instruments. And of course they sing off key too. And they always want to crank their amps to 11. Grr.....

I suggest a Squier mini strat or an Ibanez mikro two really good travel 3/4 scale guitars. Just remember tuning is different they don't tune to standard tuning. I have the Ibanez mikro and love it stays in tune sounds good and the quality is over all good.Epiphone I think still makes a 3/4 scale Les Paul and SG as well as ESP has the Kirk Hammett Jr. these are the only guitats worth getting that are fairly good worth the money and not a piece of junk.

Was thinking the same thing actually, but since I play finger pickin' style not big on electrics anymore The pawnshop deal works for me, just know what you're buying. Most likely the guitar in the link wasn't "set up" nor are most guitars sold at Guitar Center it seems, depending on the store. If you're doing a strat look on line on how to set it up.

Another option, if you have an Iphone, is using the Irig, plug the guitar in, headphones in, and the Irig to the phone, download the app, get some decent headphones, and you're all set.
