I was wondering if you're allowed to use allergy medications if a doctor states that you are able to do your job without it affecting your ability to drive? My gf wants to get her permit but is worried about passing the health test because she's on allergy meds.

As long as they are prescribed and are not on the list of no-no's then she can do it
-
The doctor has to know what she is doing and certify that it will not affect her driving...

you can get a version of what she is on over the counter. but the prescription version she takes has amphetamine in it to counter act the drowsiness normally associated with allergy meds. so due to it having a simulent in it we are confused. Due to those type of drugs being on the no-no list but yet if the doctor says its ok then she can. that doesn't make seance to me. Thats almost like then saying I can smoke weed and do coke if my doctor says its ok. just seems to easy.

It has to be a prescribed medication where the medical person knows she is a truck driver and certifies that it will not affect her ability to drive a truck. He also has to be willing to say that to the MRO when she tests positive...he could also be on the hook to testify in case she is found positive 'post accident'...not many MDs will risk this...

Thanks for the fmcsa forms Bill..I've been off of work for what my employer say's per the city DOT doctor that I shouldn't be driving my own vehicle due to medication I've been on for 19 years.Seems I was good enough when the CITY of GREEN BAY wanted me but now since Walker is in and all the changes they're finding more ways to get rid of me now..you can pass that around about working for the city here in Green Bay,Wi..YOU DON'T EVER WANT TO WORK FOR THE CITY HERE AS A BUS DRIVER...
