Made it to Michigan with my dog food. My unload appointment is 8 pm tomorrow. I'm hoping I can get in earlier. I asked if I can drop and keep moving, but his warehouse guys don't work that late.
It wouldn't be a problem on the fleet side.
Little things like this that waste my time make me start thinking maybe I should rejoin the fleet .
    Kinda torn.

I ended up buying a first aid kit. I'm getting too cut up wrestling these racks of flowers. My knees too.

I'm beginning to think this flatbed business isn't for me. So far, I've fallen off the trailer twice (the only damage was to my foot yesterday), been hit by a recoiling breaker bar, got my finger caught in a slamming door (which isn't actually related to flatbedding, but it never happened before), and have joint pain in joints I didn't know I had. I know it comes from hauling tarps and such, but hey...I'm an old man!

And all of this is in good weather. I'm not that excited about tarping with ice and snow on the trailer...so I'm pondering my own future.

I always said I wanted to do flatbed to get in shape, think I think about winter.
Too high risk for my blood.
I hear dry van is easy. What are you pondering?

The risk is what's becoming important to me, too. My body just can't do the things my mind wants to do. I could do all this years ago, but this isn't "years ago." I've driven both dry vans and reefers and really have no preference, though I do recall getting to take longish breaks ar grocery DC's waiting for lumpers to come back off break. But it happened with vans, too, so it's what I expect.

And I never fell off a dry van or reefer...

What I would really love to find is a dry van operation with high quality tractors, an APU and inverter installed, 90% drop/hook and 800-1,000 mile length of haul average.

And a DM who understands that I know what in doing and leaves me alone to manage my own clock properly.
