That's what I like about this job ... the 3 foot commute ... Used to do Ontario to downtown LA ... Antioch to downtown SF on BART from Concord ... Sacramento to Concord ... and my all time favorite - Sacramento to downtown SF via BART from Concord ... 10 hour days and a 2+ hour commute each way ...

Note to self: don't take 70 if you have any load over 22k. The headaches aren't worth the scenery . I made it to Hudson Co for the night. Hope to push at least to Des Moines tomorrow.

And with the knowledge I have to sit on this load until Monday, I'm not rushing. Watched a movie at petro in York NE.

How the hell is that working? I go home every night have no money going out other than what i stick in my face for food and take home around $700-$800 week.

    To each their own.
If that margin is doing well for them, leave it be.
I couldn't get by on it either, but everyone has different situations.
And boasting about how much you take home doesn't help your cause when there is someone else making more, that would ask how You are living on only 7-800 a week.
I admit I live too far above my means, and my at home expenses are higher than they should be, so a weekly average like that would break me.

You also have to see that it was posted last year, and if Eagleman stuck to it, he should be close to owning a truck.

Owning the truck at the end of the term should always be the goal. There isn't another reason that is valid to do this thing.
You should be able to make money and see the house. You shouldn't have to stay away from home 7-8 weeks at a time to get 3 days off.
The amount of effort you put into something should equal your results from your efforts.
    Big effort=big results.

Not boasting at all, I think I do OK but not what I'd like to make by any means, but that was my point. I average somewhere around $1000/wk and take home that $700-$800. That's with no expenses out other than gas to get to my terminal and home every day. Why should somebody that half way works for themselves make less than that WITH the added expenses? It's not right. Sure, where you live has a little to do with it, VA isn't the cheapest state around but c'mon. That's awesome if it works for him and when he owns the truck it's be better. I'm all for taking it a little with truck ownership being the end game, but there's limits. I don't know how any of the fresh out of school OTR guys go out and live on what half these companies are paying, and it's not like I'm some vet that has this killer resume, I've been driving a little under 2yrs and making considerably more than many people who have millions of miles on me. I don't get paid too much, they get paid too little. Needs to be a huge driver push back in this country.

If it weren't for people who are content, the ambitious would have no example of stagnantcy.
