    Thanks!
On a side note; be aware that (as you know) not a lot of loads will take you home. Not sure where in the UP you are, but more than likely, much like myself, you'll be going home on your dime. About as far north as they go is Traverse city or Alpena.
(Although I did get a load north of escanaba once)

Yeah bro livin 'up nort' has it's plusses but a plethora of freight gettin me home ain't one of em. I'm pretty close to the Wisconsin border so goin to Green Bay Area usually gets me home without a lot of fuss.

    *knock knock*
Scuse me driver...(insert overly detailed story here) and I'm not one to ask for money, but if you could just help me out , I only $53 more and I can achieve said goal.

The problem with these scenarios is that you can't know for sure if it's true. Or a ruse.
Everyone has the sad story of desperation. The ones that make you feel for them.
Honestly, I don't just give money away.
If they are looking to eat, I'll buy them a meal. (Half the time they aren't interested after you offer the food instead of cash)
I can appreciate that things happen to anyone, and you can get in a bind.
I also know what a pile of BS sounds like. And when an otherwise convincing story throws in a whiff, I lose interest.

He had a blowout 2 exits down.
Trying to get home to atlanta.
A trucker brought me up here.
My son (no age, unseen or indicated) is with me.
I can't put a jack under the car because the sidewalk is broken...??? So I need X $ to get it towed to get a new tire put on.

One of these lines does not belong.
Regardless , I don't have an extra $50 or so to hand out for menial tasks that one can do to earn it.
Maybe after I make this into a shiny truck I could have put him to work...

Personally, I don't trust anyone these days. Been burned one too many times, too many times ago... I just don't feel bad for people anymore. Things are tight for us, but it's our own #### fault and nobody else's problem to fix!
