I looked on petfinder and found my dream dog, right age, available at a shelter about 2 hours south of my house. Hope she is available when I go home.
( btw , "dream dog " being the breed of Mastiff)

Not exclusively , my daughter has a fear of being alone, and I thought if she had a big dog, she would sleep in her own bed.

I guess I should explain that I have 3 daughters.
Twin 10 yr olds that share a room (and Bruiser, the Pomeranian ) and my youngest is just 7. The youngest has always had her own room but never sleeps in it. She doesn't like being alone. Even if she watches tv in her room, it's with the door open and knowledge of where everyone is at least every hour. The twins are getting tired of her constantly sleeping with them, even on the floor. (She sleeps with my wife when I'm gone a lot)
so, she said she would try to sleep in her bed if she had a dog with her, since Bruiser is exclusively the twins dog , his choice, not theirs.
Id like a road dog, but I'd rather know my kid feels safe first.

My neighbor has two that roam inside his fence. Get her a nice saddle for it!

I have managed to dodge all the "hold my beer and watch this" situations. Time for some DosEquis!

Hanging in ATL for the time being . Down to 3 hrs on my 70. I splurged on a motel. Chilling out in the AC and getting a well deserved and long needed shower
