Dispatched on a load from Muskegon to PA. Appointment 230pm today
Got the load info at 4pm today
Arrive at shipper 515pm today.
After 5 hours of waiting I checked to see why I haven’t got a door assignment.
They’re still making the product.
I’m going to bed.

Why do they even make a appointment for pick up. So stupid.
-
It was a broker load that was already missed. They didn’t expect me to roll in ready to go, so they got what they could on short notice. Typical coyote load.
-
For being drop/hook load, I am doing an awful lot of waiting

So my passenger window (power) decided to be lazy and plummet into the door all the way down. Turns out getting into the door to get it is a bigger task than I realized. So for now, if it holds this time, I put plastic over it. I think I’ll tape it from the inside too. Last one I put on disintegrated eventually.

With a little guidance from a mechanically inclined driver, my window is permanently up.
A bit stressed after taking 10 days off and rent coming due.
I was worried about my health being a factor in maybe not being able to drive in the near future, so I was thinking if I should “go company “ in case I needed lots of time off...
The company has a lien on the truck for my new motor. I asked if they would go for my idea if it came to that....sure, but no windfall for me. They’d keep the lien until/unless I paid it off, but I’m under no obligation to pay it off if I go company, I just lose the time and effort buying a used truck.
I don’t think there are any winners in that scenario so I decided I’ll power through until I pay it off, then it’s time to go. This is not the same place that I started with 4 years ago. Loyalty doesn’t pay bills or get you ahead. Hopefully they stay afloat long enough for me to pay that motor off.Feedman Thanks this. -
I may decide it’s time to upgrade. You can feel it in the office. The ship is taking on 7 gallons a minute and the crew of 5 each have 1 gallon buckets.
The last 3 weeks have been duds. So much so I had to get a larger than normal advance to cover bills at home. (Of which the company charges 20% interest on)
I fought the fight, seen it to the end, but I think I need to take the truck elsewhere. I’m going to investigate if I can repay the cost of the motor privately. I can make 60% more revenue at another company that pays % of the gross.88 Alpha, T.Rucker, popcorn169 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Correction. It is time to upgrade. I already have a line on what I’m going to do. Finally looks like I can use my failure into ownership as a trade/down for a “newish” truck. Yes I’ll have a payment again, but I’ll be doing it the “right way” and playing owner operator making a lot more revenue that what my small mileage rate gets me.
Time to work smarter, not harder.
Besides, I’m getting old and tired.drlmi, popcorn169, Feedman and 2 others Thank this. -

Of course the other company I’m looking at doesn’t have age limits on tractors...no payments and 80% gross would work well for a while until I saved enough for a “new truck under warranty “
T.Rucker Thanks this.
