I think I might try toasting it with mayonnaise.
-
it's about lease purchases
-
The overall theme, yes. but there’s a sharp turn of events 5 years and 6 months ago.
December 8th 2018 everything changed.
I’m hoping by December 8th 2024, it can change back.Sirscrapntruckalot, wulfman75, 88 Alpha and 2 others Thank this. -
My bad for missing that!!!
-
That said, even if I wanted to get back into it, where could I go with no “recent experience “? And I would want a manual transmission…I’d almost have to be an IC to make my own schedule for periodic doctors appointments
-
I heard that driving a manual is now another “endorsement “ ? Like air brakes and combination vehicles?

No
Not true, but automatic only is a restriction. -
Thanks for clarifying.

Best of luck to you. The Company I’m currently working for is in SE Michigan. No IC’s just Company Drivers. Mainly run Laredo. Stay out or stay home as needed. 240 miles away from Gaylord. Pays .60 cpm. Nice well maintained late model equipment. Coronado Gliders w/12.7 Detroits. Volvos, and new Century’s. Pretty laid back Operation. It’s slow right now. Always hiring. Have at least 15 Trucks just sitting in yard. About 6 of them brand new. The IC route is OK, but risky. Why add complications? Better IMO to be able to walk away, without any liabilities. I was an O/O for 28 yrs. May still be one again. It’s barely worth the little bit extra, often lose the extra when not working, because of the fixed costs. I only worked 50% of the time, the last 18 months I ran my Truck. Even with no payments, the fixed costs along with the added work involved filing, fixing, planning, it all added up to working 3 jobs. Takes up too much time. That’s the down side of owning a Truck. I’m sure you know plenty of the things involved. It’s definitely a commitment. Something to consider before buying. It can become a trap instead of providing freedom. A lot of added stress, for a couple or few hundred bucks per working week. My biggest problem was not being able to enjoy time off for fear of falling behind due to unforeseen circumstances. Eventually I tempted fate too much. The Law of averages eventually caught up with me. I knew it would. Had no choice though. Just rode it out. Not much to show for all my years of efforts. Just an old Truck and Trailer. Everything else could have been afforded by working a Company job. Time is more valuable than money. Can’t buy time. Good Luck. I hope whatever you decide works out well. It will simply because of your perseverance. You remind me of my oldest friend. He never gives up. Leukemia from Camp Legume. Heart and kidney failure from chemo 10 years later. Had a stroke 6 yrs ago. Currently on dialysis 3 x per week. Heard he was in bad shape a while back. Visit the hospital and he’s doing push ups in the bed. Lol. He never gives up. Never did. Never will. Quite an inspiration, like you. Good Luck. I’m back to being a quiet observer, just wanted to let you know how much of an inspiration you are to others, especially those who are faced with challenges of their own. Keep on keeping on. God BlessDonRobbie, Sirscrapntruckalot, The_vett and 6 others Thank this.
