Got my doctor to say once I’m on my long term medication dosage (usually 6 months post operation) she will write a letter stating I can operate a CMV without restriction. I can then use that at a DOT physical and get my med card back and CDL current. (Thinking December to be safe)

I realize I’ll probably have to go out with a trainer for a refresher before I can hop back in a seat, unless I land local or can rent/lease a day cab and do short haul stuff…those add up.

You'll probably get a 1 year card and will have to provide a current letter each year from your doctor.

That's what I had to do with my congestive heart failure. Drove for 14 years until I retired this past January.

I completely understand. Last year I shattered my femur at the base of the hip and was out of work for 4 months. It was a work-related injury so my boss nor any of my co-workers could talk to me. This forum kept me in touch with the industry and as a mod, it gave me something to do every day, other than go to rehab.

And…just got the call my Dad has Alzheimer’s disease. Advancing quickly. There’s a medication to help but it makes him feel sick so he won’t take it. I think I need to take next weekend and stay over at his place to see if my stepmom has a list of options

I know he should apply for disability immediately as it’s retroactive to application date. Probably get SSI immediately. not sure what else to do.

Hardest pill to swallow is realizing you mean nothing to people who mean a lot to you
