Here’s my second guessing being a company driver. I’ve been lied to too many times and rarely did I get home on time on the dates requested.
I was told if I was out on the road over Christmas Day, I’d get a $500 bonus.
I never got home, never got the bonus because I didn’t voluntarily stay out, I just didn’t get home. stuck on the road over a holiday weekend not making money doesn’t set well with me.
if I’m paying the bills on the truck I can burn the fuel and go home without a load to see my family, since nobody was open for a week to load me anyway. as a company driver I had to sit still til I was told I could go somewhere. Then I couldn’t afford to go home after sitting for days.
so. To me, no. Being a company driver is not simpler, nor does it grant freedom.
If I get into a freight market that’s predicable and plentiful, I’d go company because it would be routine. A dedicated food account for instance.

 

Other people have schedules I need to wait for to get my application to advance.
The objective is regain my cdl. Then I look for the honey pot that has all I want.

 

When you have little income and have to pay for your own drug test, driving record and Med card within a timeframe it gets stressful when every bill you owe is due at once.

 

Now all I need to do is get my drug screen and pull my driving record
