It's the bugs. I've spent many nights sleeping in the back of a cargo airplane in south Florida, with the aforementioned bugs, heat, and humidity. I prefer the cold; one can warm up when it's cold, but it's hard to get comfortable when it's humid without air conditioning.

Tried to park at receiver last night and security ran me off. So I came to the yard. ( on the street just outside ) now my truck won't start . Waiting to see if a shop guy gets in and can solve the problem. This is not a good start to my year

Turns out my fuel lines were leaking , then it needs a new starter.
Times like this I second guess my decision... At least I have a loner truck to deliver my load

company leasing or fleecing is to benefit the company 100 percent. They truly don't care rather you go bust or not...I leased and didnt fair so well but I had friends who did but decided to be a trainer to get those scary miles which I personally wasn't willing to do...I STARVED driving OTR as a company driver and lease operator compared to local being home everyday off weekends...I just started my taxes and my End of year Gross was 20k more with all the benefits of family and a regular life, no more truck stops, no more rest areas...Trucking is a good career but not life.

I tried to pick out the main idea in this run on sentence.
Basically you found your niche and are happy. And people like me are stupid for trying. Got it.
There are two types of people; those who are company guys, and those who are their own guy .
There is nothing wrong with either.
Where I live , if I can get a stay at home job that covered the bills, I'd do it.
Mi can't support my family on 20k a year.
I have. 3 kids and I want their lives and childhood to be better than my own. I'm not about to tell them they can't go into an extra curricular activity because we can't afford the fee and uniform.
To each their own, but don't assume my situation is a failure like yours. Obviously you haven't read the whole thread and just posted on here to put a spotlight on yourself so others can see, after failing at leasing, now your a winner .
Enjoy it . Bask in that glory, winner.

Fact is, when I could have been told to wait until the truck was repaired, I was given a loner to keep working.
I see this a mutually beneficial and is not a slap down from then man

Most often, the reason truck lease holders fail - as do 90% of all small businesses in this country, for that matter - is not because of anything the company did or didn't do. It's because the driver fails to make the mindset change from company driver, where everything is paid for and a paycheck is guaranteed, no matter how small, to a small business owner operating a piece of mechanical equipment he happens to drive.

When one is a company driver, the driver is an employee of the company and the income belongs to the driver. When one leases, the driver becomes an employee of the truck and the income belongs to the truck.

One wonders with such a high failure rate why anybody would want to get into any kind of small business, ever. After all, contracts of all kinds are written to benefit the writer of it as much as possible, in this case, the company, and not the signer of the lease. The reason is simple: we are a country of entrepreurs who want challenge.

Being in business for oneself is not for everyone. That is why business owners hire people who want to work for the stability of a paycheck.
