I know some leases are out to screw the l/o over but everytime someone says how good they are doing or that they are studying the l/p deal with a particular company someone has to chime in and give their opinion about how it is a bad idea and that you will fail because they screwed someone else over. I think that each person has the ability to make up their own mind and if they fail at it then they learned a lesson. Just can't figure why people automatically assume that you will fail.

I am toying with the thought of l/p with Schneider but am not for sure at this moment. I did at one time buy my own truck but do to medical reasons with my wife at the time the dealership sold the truck for me. I lost a huge down payment and just don't have that big of a down payment at this time. So this might just be the route I take and after a year if I do well then I might buy me another one or figure it is not for me and then do something else.

Right now the company I work for just got us 2015 Cascadia's and I am home during the week and on weekends. I get paid good and I have benefits but it has been a passion of mine to be a owner. One of these days it may actually come true.

self evident not wanting to be a trainer or team run yes, wanting miles and getting miles are two different things... I guess not willing to sacrifice everything for nothing. The thing to this is, Dont come on here making it out to be a good deal leasing truck thru a company...it is not, In fact it should be against the law the way some of these jokers at the the cdl mills run things.

I agree, being an o/o or leasing thru cdl mill are two different animals, you control your destiny as an o/o, but not an l/o... The cdl mill controls everything and mandates where you put the money you earn, ex> maint acct etc

Mi agree the big box carriers lp deals are not good deals. However, when you paint the picture withe the broad stroke saying all deals are bad and nobody should come on here saying it's good, says to me you are already disgruntled and won't accept the fact that some companies are ok. You are prejudice in that way and there is no changing your mind.
Dont come on my thread calling me stupid for doing this, and succeeding where you failed just because you don't like the fact I'm doing ok.
Its not a get rich quick scheme, it's a disciplined work habit with freedoms and responsibility .

I respect your opininion, but I only need it once .

Please understand I'm not leased to a CDL mill. Or am I a trainer or team.
Im happy to pay into a maintenance account because I don't have enough saved up to pay for a new transmission if I need one .
There are ups and downs in every case. At least if I drop in Michigan and I'm not planned on a load , I can go home without asking permission .

    SheepDog Thanks this.

In this country (the USA, since there are members from other countries on TTR) we still have the opportunity to fail. We are risk takers. The entrepreneur spirit is alive and well. So if one person wants to take the risk of failing - which, of course, also assumes the risk of succeeding - let him. No other person has the right to demean her just because she wants to follow her dream and her own path.
