When I was otr four weeks was when I started to crack. Five weeks and I was beyond cranky. I did six weeks one time no stopping just churn and burn and boy was that a bad idea. Mentally you just need a break after awhile.
Even for just a day to unwind. I would often grab a cheap motel for the night. Not all the time, but often enough to keep my sanity.
If course I was single with like five bills to be concerned about, so getting a room wasn't breaking any bank but the insanity.
Best of luck to ya wicked. Glad to see you still chugging along.

For me, if I am out 6 weeks (not that unusual since I live alone), I have learns that I need at least 48 hours off. Taking a 34 wasn't enough because I found myself stayin 'in character,' as they might say in the movies, and I got no relaxation. Taking the extra 14 hours off changed everything. And I rarealy sta home more than 4 days; I get very anxious to get back to it. For me, 5-6 weeks out and 3 days off seems to be the sweet spot.

You may not have to worry but, something similar happened to me in 09 only, the 4 wheeler never touched my trailer. She just rolled her pickup 4 times is all, because she was pre-occupied with whatever. I pulled over and gave the LEO my statement, after he took her statement, and the witnesses statement, he let me go. In 2011 I signed up with another company and they brought the "accident" to my attention. I told them my side and they wanted the police report, took me about a half hour to get it. It states that I was not at fault but, it was on my dac and psp. On my dac it stated, before I had it removed, that I "ran car off road". So my point is, you may want to check your dac and psp in about 6 months, just to be safe.Wickedfire77 Thanks this.

I can stay out, however long it takes to get the job done but after about 8 weeks, I am in need of "me" time.... I haven't stayed out that long in a while but, I will if I need to. I would love to work M-F and be home on the weekends, that is my goal.

I think Averritt and Tyson do that. They might be in your area. Then again, you're an O/O...oops.SheepDog Thanks this.

Only Gods Will, will put me back in a company seat again. If I have MY WAY, I will NEVER be a company driver again....

I edited my last post after realizing that my "suggestion" was misguided...and TTR took away the 'delete post' function some time ago. Your desire to operate on your own is admirable; its a direction I see myself moving, mostly because of the bit more control I would have over my life.
I just have to find the right fit...and that is harder than it sounds.SheepDog Thanks this. -
At home until Tuesday celebrating birthdays for my wife and my twins.
Then after a lackluster week, I need to take it to a new level.SheepDog Thanks this. -
I know what you mean by "lackluster week" brother, have had a few of those but, I am told it is just because of the time of year it is. I have heard this every year I have been in trucking, and researching the flatbed industry. That is why some O/O's have two trailers, one flatbed and one reefer. I have vowed to make every week a profitable week, regardless of what I have to do. I know you are serious about making your business succeed as well, you will do fine brother.
Wickedfire77 Thanks this. -
I assume you are referring to your post suggesting Averritt or Tyson..lol No worries brother. I will be happy for you when you finally do get your own truck, I am confident you will make it work.
