Worse case, if business doesn't go well I can always lease the truck and trailer to a Carrier and then try again later.

The thing you might find is if you come on here and ask is it might just fill you with even more uncertainty. If your managing an LP good then you should be fine with your own authority. I just jumped in with both feet and did it. I was an O/O before but was leased on with another company. You can save a lot of up front expenses by doing everything yourself. My insurance premium was a pleasant surprise for me when all was said and done. All in all if it does not work out you can always lease back on somewhere. The money spent on your insurance would be refunded to you if paid upfront for the year. That was the biggest expense for me but saved me $1000 by paying in full. At this point in my life I do not wish to deal with young safety managers with attitudes and less the competent dispatchers. I would much rather sit in my own dining room doing the accounting work than sitting in some foolish safety meeting learning about sleep deprivation and how to properly walk across the parking lot at a truckstop without getting hit. For me the pros far outweigh the cons, no brainer.
