True. A big commentary on export radio criticisms…
-
I have mine on from the time I start truck til I shut truck off.bored silly Thanks this.

You guys don't know about this but no one is really doing spot checks on these junk radios. The manufacturer does one run of them and changes over to another radio, maybe a sparta or some other cheap one. The mark up on these things is really really good.
Yeah I wish you guys would get that.
I wish I could say that but I am home bound. -
What's your favorite radio under $200?
-
2 cobra 29 chromes..
-
Any one that works.
Seriously I've got old cobras that work better than some of the super trucker crap out on the market - especially 10 meter rigs which are not ham radios.
New ones?
a cobra 29 is good. -
Just for fun, I swapped out my General Lee for my stock cobra 29 NW. In addition to the volume/squelch knobs being cleaner, the receive is much smoother aka less random noise comes through. I'll play around with my other radios to compare more.

FM on most export radios, is useless. They arent really made for FM transmission anyway. Deviation is usually way off from the factory, and most shops that do a service alignment, either dont have the proper equipment, or even bother with this part of the alignment.
If your tx'ing on FM, you are most likely just causing qrm on several AM freqs.
As far as new regular cb radios go, I like the new Uniden 68/78 ltd. One guy on ebay has them nib for $70!
Like the classic look n black face, and no stupid 'delta tune'. If it had ssb, Id be all over it!BTShepp Thanks this. -
That explains why during some testing, I could communicate with people while I was on FM mode and they were on AM mode. It just sounded distorted.Bout Z Thanks this.
