The first part of the OP is what lead to hitting the rumble strips.. He got a ticket for the phone, and the careless driving one leads me to believe its cuz he was CAUGHT texting his lover in India, that wants to give him $12902193019802 all she needs is his Bank account, $13,000 for the "Fee's" and his Social.

I'm a driver too cs! I meant you aren't gonna see the cashier at Walmart standing there talking on the phone while they're ringing up items. When I'm driving I'm watching ahead as far as I can see. I'm watching my gages and my mirrors as well as the vehicles surrounding me. I haul stone with an overweight permit good to 117000k gross I'm usually around 115000k. I make the same trip 7 to 9 times a day and every trip is different. Being on the phone is a distraction.

On that Mythbusters segment I was talking about they tested 30 drivers all different ages, sexes, etc, there was only ONE driver out of 30 that made it thru the course (simulator) without crashing, killing someone, or running off the road,

I believe there is a time and a place, yes. OTR driving would be miserable not being able to talk to anyone while driving. Kinda hard to compare sitting behind the wheel for 10 hours doing nothing to other "normal" jobs. Otr driving is miserable enough as is, imo

Reading this thread I am just surprised at how many people who do not use cellphone while driving got together in one thread. I dont use cellphone in busy areas, but if I am going out west for example, I can be on the phone for hours, talking to other drivers about some stupid senseless stuff. If you dont talk to anybody while driving (not in a busy area), then I just find you a bit strange or just plain...lonely?

I will admit it, I am a loner in the truck, I just plain enjoy driving and what is around the next corner, nobody from my company ever wants to run with me, I don't smoke, never drank, so yeah, people tend to think me a bit strange, it takes all kinds.
