You could have some ice in the air system that is preventing the brakes from “setting” when you pull the red knob. I had that happen before. Just get a can of airline antifreeze and spray it in the red line and work that through the system and maybe that will help?

Hot soapy water to lubricate the pins.

Are you leaking air? Listen for a leak under the trailer. Had that issue when I had a leak. Had to haul ### back there to push the button to beat the leak.

    Midnightrider909 Thanks this.

The trailer I just hooked up to releases the tandem pins at the same time the brakes are released. I guess I won't be going anywhere until a mechanic figures out the issue. Previous driver dropped this trailer without making note of the issue. I can't believe the guy was driving down the road with the trailer just resting on the tandem without being locked in.

I just had the same problem , I didn’t drain my airtank before winte, water acumulated and ran to the airsystem and freezes up and causes issues like that, I bought Airline Antifreeze at a truck stop, I put some of it on the tractor airline through the Glad hand ear extend all the way it all the way up so you can get as much liquid in once it’s overfilled connect it to the trailer, press in the red valve dump most of the air and air up till the governor cuts off , do this 3 times and and after that wait 20 minutes and if it hasn’t work but u probably won’t have to it worked for me

With those button releases, the button won’t budge or hiss if the brakes aren’t set.
