i think if you are always sliding the tandems it would be worth the money

I would definitely scale if it weren't for the suspension air gauge

Well see my mistake fell on where I went from Internationals LB gauge to a PSI gauge which threw me off pretty badly. But now I know. Don't risk it.

There's a reason you got hit then. You mis-applied a tool.

Not saying I have not been hit myself. I have. The trailer was set for a full load. I didn't have the full load yet and stupidly drove across a scale. Heavy on drivers, but nothing on the tandem.

All it would have taken is going a different route to get to where I had to go.

Pick up an old load lock (even broken) saw off both ends so it can slide through the tandems where you want it to stop.

My suspension gauge was at 52 psi, which is about 30k on the drives. I knew I was getting a 45k load. So i slid them back a little. When i scaled I was still way over lol. Luckily the 40 mile trip to a cat scale didn't have any weigh stations between it. Now I'm legal but running the tandems all the way back. Can't turn worth a crap but my truck rides great lol

go back and read ALL of what I said....

a 42K load on my truck puts me right up at 76-77K gross weight. Depends on my fuel load.

Below that, I am comfortable enough to get my truck set correctly.

Above that, I am too close to maxing out the axles that I will weigh it.

There's a huge difference there. I know better than to not weigh it pushing your axle/loaded gross weights.

    DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

just curious how you slide your drives? :biggrin_25524:

I have a fixed fifth wheel too, so I can only slide the trailer tandems, and I have air gauge on the drives too
