Did you miss where he said his tires keep rolling with the brakes applied?

Can you manually adjust automatic slack adjusters?
It's dangerous to manually adjust automatic slack adjusters. Repeated adjustment can mask other problems and may lead to brake failure. Automatic slack adjusters should only be adjusted or repaired by a qualified mechanic. Follow the manufacturer's instructions in carrying out any adjustment.

There used to be a plastic gear that if you tried to back off the brakes you would break the tab off inside and the brakes would just keep backing off.

Go soak your head, nitwit. You didn't answer the question asked, which was "WHAT SLACK ADJUSTERS CAN'T BE BACKED OFF", and if your brakes are out of adjustment, you adjust them then get the slack adjusters repaired or released. "Gee Bob, why didn't you stop?" "My brakes were out of adjustment, and some dude from TTR told me you NEVER ADJUST auto slack adjusters!" SMH

They rotate in reverse. It just takes more effort as you go through the clicks.

Next time adjust em up. Then use some muscle to back off 1/2 turn. You'll see how they work and you'll know.

And just so you know. There's about 4 different types of adjusters. Between the manuals and automatics. Might be more but I've only encountered 4 so far.

    Nope. Brakes.

Hard to adjust your axle if the tires keep rolling.

IIRC Gunite slacks have the ratchet mechanism. Rockwell had the little spring loaded button you needed pop out to back the adjuster off. Haldex I honestly can't remember.

Just so you know that was a cut and paste. And if your brakes were that far out of adjustment that you couldn't stop then you didn't do Your job. And I never said never adjust I said ''unless you are qualified''.
I did say which slack adjusters you don't back off.
I think you are crossing the line.

Hard to adjust the tandems if the brakes are not on and the suspension is binding up.

Update: like i said i adjust the brakes. Last night loaded 45k set the brakes, release tandems the wheels didn’t move at all. I guess this worked at least for me. Maybe for someone just adjusting the brake won’t work, but for me it did the job. Thank you again and to be honest i didn’t expect that many replies
    Be safe fellas truckers!
