OK, I guess this will be a "what do I have to loose" kinda thing. I'm gonna drop the app. in tomorrow and see what they say Monday. How fast are the truck's set? I figure sense I'm not to far from the terminal I won't have to deal being being a flea on the pain in the ### grey dog to some other state and might be able to get home a little more often. It would be awsome if they had an open local position with no one to fill it, HA! Wishful thinkin' for me.

Company trucks are set for 65 mph. They seem to go thru a lot of shuttle drivers..shuttle is from shreveport to mansfield mill..also coushatta to campti mill...Most times when I pull into mansfield mill and it is backed up, I turn around and leave and return around 0500-0600 the next morning...Got better things to do (play Lock On FC2 on computer, which is a flight sim :biggrin_25523:)..If I remember right, shuttle drivers are makeing around $15.00/hr..Good Luck and see ya on the road!!

Yea, I got the green light today. Will be in oreintation Monday and they are hiring me in as a local shuttle driver. Was told OT is avalible. 4 on / 3 off. If I remember it was $15.60/hr. Not shabby for being home everyday but I'll see about trying to get 5 on /2 off. Starting out night shift. Not sure how many hours a day. Curious as to why they go through so many local drivers? My guess is alot of them are going into hauling saltwater for the drilling rig's around here because it's better pay which I can understand and I've tried to do as well. I don't understand how they can hire someone off the street with no CDL, train them and put them to work in the oil field but won't hire someone with OTR exp. Figured it would have been better on their insurance and someone with knowledge. I'm not expecting the world and know it's not the greatest thing in the world but a hellava lot better than what I was doing and it got my finace` off my back about being OTR, making better than I have been and getting weekends off.

While I was on the phone I asked some questions and they are getting all new Prostars within the next year but said the company is trying to work a deal with Freightliner for an account in the future for the lighter weight trucks because of the weight on paper.

lol, 10-4! Yea, I went over to the main office where they are holding oreintation just to make sure I knew where to go ahead of time. Seem's like the week has been dragging along as slow as it can. I'm ready to go to work.

Was told a few days ago, that they were going to start holding orintation in the I20 facility (former USA truck terminal)..Is that where you are going or are you going to main office on Financial Plaza? I sometimes meet my DM over at Waffle House (around corner from main office) for breakfast when I'm in town and she can get her booty out of bed that early..LOL

I was told that I would be meeting next to the side entrance at the main office there on Financial Plaza. I heard about them getting the old USA terminal but nothing about holding classes there as of yet.

The wait is over. Tomorrow is the big day. Feel's different going to oreintation and not have to hop the bus to do so and local is going to be a big change as well. I'll post an update on how it goes.

Home from the first day. It was awsome and alot better than I expected. Tim is a trip and a half. Wasn't a single dull moment in class. Everything looks good and the pay will be just what the doctor ordered. Down side the insurance and 401K sucks big time but there is a down to every good thing. Everyone really friendly and helpful. Haven't been fed a single line of B.S. and tell you like it is. I think this is gonna end up being my new home. With the option of working OT from 42 hours a week advancing to 70 (legal logging) rule and the yard I will be working out of is just right down the road from me. Close enough I can ride a bicycle to and from if I wanted.
