Where is your location?
Most tanker companies will hire you, then train you for tankers.Another Canadian driver and Numb Thank this. -
Some tanker companies hire brand new CDL holder but not all that many. Most tanker companies will hire you with no tanker experience if you have 1 year of CDL experience. You can learn to drive the tanker trailer, but you CANNOT drive carelessly at all. If you try that it will rollover.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

The Forum can make better suggestions and better help out--if we knew what city/state is closest to you.
Also--what CDL endorsements (if any) do you already have?

You can haul food grade, drive a concrete mixer, run a water truck or a slurry spreader for a construction company, pull a pneumatic, or run a vacuum truck.Another Canadian driver and Flattop23 Thank this.

It's a lot of pneumatic tanker company in my area most want 2 years experience as for driving concrete trucks the guy that runs a company in my town always firing his driver's for getting their truck stuck so I rather avoid working for himAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.
