peakstarps.com has some very nice lightweight tarps. a 8ft drop weighs around 78#.
Great for us old timers that are to stubborn to stop bedding. lol

When loading roofing insulation at Firestone Building Products in Aurora, Co. we used to always have to use lumber tarps. Then they began shrink wrapping each bundle with really heavy plastic. I asked shipping manager how expensive that was. He said it is actually cheaper than most companies charge him to tarp, and they can load more trucks faster in less time, because they aren't waiting on drivers to tarp. Also don't have to worry about a potential lawsuit if a driver falls off a 13'6" load. Wish more shippers would look into that. I know shrink wrap certainly wouldn't work in every situation, but is nice where it does.

I picked up A crate something like that years ago at Midway Airport in Chicago . Don't remember dimensions , but it came in from Israel , off the plane and onto my stepdeck. Very windy, cold and dark. The tarps were blowing off before I could tie A point down . An older gentleman and his wife , retired teachers driving A single axle chevy tractor , hot shot rig , came over with A ladder, more rope and A decent light . I learned A lot from them that night about techniques and being prepared for the " unexpected ". Saw the couple A few more times over the years ; Oklahoma City, Laredo , Novi , Michigan ...........great people . Also bought 100' more of good rope . Invaluable stuff, rope , and the "Drivers" that inhabit the city referred to as " The Interstates". Sleeve
