the per diem scam perpetrated by these companies are just bs by paying you per diem they are not paying the 6% for there share of social security and neither are they paying there % for workers comp so they are saving about $6 per day for each driver more than enough to pay for the administration costs ...... it's the result of having mbas making company policy

I reacted immediately by having an extra $10 withheld weekly, and taking the company offered per diem. I’m already reviewing my taxes. And it’s looking like I’ll get a return of about $5k

You take everything that’s available to you. Don’t let the psychological part affect your choices. Because the never held a job dirtbag across the street will take every dime you leave in the feed trough.

OP, you can report untaxed income AS income with many major companies now. They offer this when you report your income. And it’s easily validated with your pay statements and W2. I do it every year.

If your credit score takes a hit. It’s your own fault.

 

What is the purpose of a credit rating ?
If your NOT financially educated and NOT financially fit the purpose of a credit rating is to "get stuff". It's to rent things you can't afford to purchase.
If your financially educated & financially fit it is to gain more Freedom through loaning poor people your money. People who are not good at math borrow money from people who are good at math.
