I'm a greenhorn going to school for my CDL and from there will be doing OTR. I am an American but have been living in Baja Mexico for the past 4 years but now that I will be back working in the states I was hoping someone could assist me in which state would be best to call "home base" as far as taxes are concerned and wondering is it as easy as just a P.O. Box ? Before relocating to Baja Mexico San Diego was my home for the longest time but figured seeing I'll basically be living in my truck added with I'm honestly not much for Uncle Scam and his ways (sorry if that offends but just my opinion) I was looking for the best option available to help my income, stay my income. My next goal will be finding out what will be tax deductible as I can only imagine there's a lot of costs being OTR. Appreciate your time and looking forward to following these forums to gain more knowledge in new career. Thanks

There are 9 states with no personal income taxes. Get an address in one of those states. You will need an actual physical address, not just a PO Box. Some people use Mailboxes ETC for address purposes. Maybe there's a Mailboxes Etc in Las Vegas or Reno.

OOIDA can recommend a tax service for truckers.
