In my opinion, the TCA is an association to help promote the agenda of large carriers and I have not seen anything that has come out of this group that could even be remotely considered in the best interest of drivers. If you put a list together of companies that abuse drivers I would imagine the ones at the top hold positions, or have held, on the board.

So when a carrier wins the title of “Best Trucking Company” from the TCA, does this indicate they exemplify all the values that these wonderful carriers hold or that they are just the best of the worst.

I don’t know, It seems advertising this would be like putting on your resume that you were voted best behaved on Cell Block D.

Does this mean you DON"T want to join them? Large carriers agenda= getting all the freight and rebrokering it to us at a profit.
Kind of like having ray lahood as a co-driver wouldn't you think?

Every year the TCA selects the Owner operator of the year. Nine out of ten times it is some one from Dart. Seems there are so few good O/O's that they choose the same one from Dart a second time..

They would never show the ballots cause the deck is stacked .. Dart uses it as a recruiting tool and probably donates a huge sim of money TCA and other organizations . By doing that they can stack the deck in their favor and continue to publish The Dart Digest in every TS book that they can get in ... Lol

Well, the Best Carrier awards are based on responses from company drivers and O/O leased on with the carriers. The carrier that gets the most positive that year, gets the privilege of saying they are one of the "best carriers to work for". I got cornered a couple of years ago when I walked into the office to get online and answer the TCA questions regarding this so that the carrier could win. Not really sure how the O/O of the year awards are chosen. Probably similar to the ATA Road Team selections. Not based on anything real. Mostly political.

At first, early on, the "best carrier to driver for" seemed like an ok deal. But after seeing how it all plays out for several years now, I am not impressed with the "best carrier" thing. It really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal, and I would not use it to make a decision whether to join up with a carrier. I view it as no better than the stupid "awards" given out by the ATA. I just throw them in the trash when I get them. I am not really interested in getting an "award" like they really mean something, when the organization giving them out on one hand, is trying to screw drivers over with the other hand. The ATA is nothing more than a Communist front organization, and TCA is right behind them.
