So day 3 of orientation at Swift is over. We got our com data cards and requests for mentors. Today we mostly worked on trip planning, and meetings with driver development, repair shop. Donelle has been our instructor. She’s got 13 years OTR and local experience. She is very funny. She takes no ####, and she works with you.
My main issue is trying to reconcile the monstrous valley between the people who I’ve met at TDA and Swift, all who are very capable and professional, and the stories I read here, online, and in the videos I see on YouTube et.al.
When someone presents an issue here with Swift, mentors, etc I’m kind of stunned. They go over almost all these situations during orientation, and give you not only the chain of command, but also the steps to take during orientation.
Aaron who came in from driver development was clear in saying. If your trainer gives you red flags to his/her behavior, lack of wanting to train you etc talk to the mentor first. If you don’t get good answers call Aaron, don’t like it still call Aaron’s boss and so forth.
Anyway I know reality is often different than a meeting in orientation, but still...
I’m scheduled for my test tomorrow. I’m going to review my course subject matter then visualize the skills etc and get to sleep. Tomorrow’s a big day and I’d really like to pass and get going on the road.Maj. Jackhole and SHOJim Thank this. -
Good luck, you’ve got this!

Well...
I never got to test. I filled out my application truthfully and that was the problem. They let me train there for a month, I was top of my class and through orientation... today was test day.
Swift disqualified me this morning while I was waiting to test because I told the truth in trying an edible with my wife in New Years. It was legal in California, but not federally. Swift was kind enough to let me go through the whole course and pulled the plug on me, which means I couldn’t take my drivers test.
Curious as to why they even let me got to school. I think it’s an office cluster #### problem
Now before any of you accuse me of ####. I was 100% honest. I also passed (3) urine tests, and a hair follicle test. Swift said it was company policy.
So I’m a bit confused on what to do now. I’m 90% sure I can pass PTI/air brake/skills/road test with a manual.
@Chinatown and others suggested I say nothing, but I consider my integrity being worth more.
Well anyway. Good. I don’t have to pay for the school. Anyone with thoughts or ideas? Find a truck to rent and just go take it? I don’t really want to sit through another month of classes when I know I can pass the test. Anyway...Maj. Jackhole and SHOJim Thank this. -
Sorry man. You’ll find something. Hang in there.

Not knocking you otter, your experience goes to show on certain subjects you just say no.
