It's a bonus you FOR signing on, not a bonus you get WHEN signing on.

Safe to say when they offer the bonus it's a trap?

Just thought I would look up the company I currently work for. I have to say the post about taking back the sign on bonus I was never told they did that untill I was rehired after I left. They didn't take my last check as I was there longer than 90 days the first time. This time around (understandably ) I didn't get another sign on bonus so it was hard starting over without that money the first couple weeks.
My time spent here at TDC our of Joplin MO. both before and currently has been a good experience. Before someone ask if it was good why did I leave ... I got butt hurt over them taking money out of my check all at once for a ticket I got because I didn't weight my truck ... so MY FAULT...
anyhow Now they start you at 48 cpm for 1 - 3 years driving exp .. and 50 cpm if you have 3 or more years.. Miles were not an issue the first time I was here but other than a couple paychecks this time the miles have not been there really. However I'm just starting BACK so again I can understand people that have been there for years would get the miles before me as a rehire.
overall this company is great to work for if you need time off just ask they send you home right away if needed also if you need some running money just ask they don't even ask why you need the advance as long as your not asking for 200 or 300 when you ask. They give 100 a week on your card for you to take and I randomly ask for another hundred for a couple cartons of smokes before I go home for weekends (if im in MO cause smokes are cheap there lol) -
Yes. Spfld and Joplin companies are bad or pay poorly as of March, 23. It's been this way since the 90s.

What kind of drug test do they do? -
If you have to ask, you don't need to be in trucking yet.

I don't smoke or shoot drugs, and I ask that question every time. If it's a "normally" paying company, it's a definite no-go (unless they wanna pay ME for them cutting my hair). If it's above-average or high pay, I'll consider allowing it (as long as the pay doesn't also come with a distinct and consistent lack of work). Besides, even if I did smoke a little weed during one of my 2-3 months off between jobs, what business is that of theirs? If it was a "problem," wouldn't be able to remain clean a mere 30 days. Unless it had to do directly with the gig, what someone did 90 days ago it just not their business.
That all being stated, it is always wise just to refrain until completely out of the industry. Mainly, that's because a company can urine you in, then a month or two later change that policy to hair...and then call you in for a random. I saw that happen once. Wanna smoke that ganja during weekends? Retire, or get a gig riding a desk.
As far as the question posted, call them. They'll tell ya. -
There’s a little something companies do called “random drug screening” which they can call you in for at any time as they see fit.
