What do y'all think about May Trucking being a starter company? I do like the weekly flat pay just in case I'm not bringing in the miles in the beginning due to a learning curb.
Then after 90 days, if my mileage beats my weekly rate. They are suppose to cut a lump sum check to cover the overage.
$630 weekly flat rate
.35 cents/ mile
What do you guys think?

Thank you Chinatown and everyone who has chimed in!
I'm going to look into those other trucking companies listed.
I've read that most trucking companies are pretty much the same when it comes to us green horns with less than a year. Once I get that year under my belt, supposedly I'm to jump ship and find a better company. -
With Trimac you'll probably start out at around $60K then go up from there. With 24 mos. experience you can jump to over $100K in their Elite Fleet.
Tyson drivers post they make between $60K - $65K.
Lots to choose from.

If coke is a company you want to work for, apply. Valparaiso has a Coke terminal. Coke used to hire and train driver for cdl.

They have one in Pensacola too. That is also what I heard from their drivers, and I submitted an app over 3 months ago. It's pretty slow for the food industry/ distribution this time of year maybe that's why they aren't hiring yet.

The slow season is ending. Spring break then into summer. Food service, beer and beverage will be cranking up.

When I worked for a reefer company, we got lots of drivers from the beverage companies. They had to quit beverage and food service due to bad backs. Some of those guys in their 20's & 30's walking around like they're 90 years old. The money is good, but there's a price to pay also. It's ok, but not something to do for a whole career.
Eggroll'n Trucker Thanks this.
