Hi everybody. I am supposed to be attending the TDI school in Milton, FL beginning Monday, Oct. 21, 2013. Can anyone give me their general thoughts/feelings on this school? My fiance will be attending as well. She has a current CDL but has been off the road for the past 6 years so will be attending as a refresher course. I, on the other hand, am new to this career and have no experience. I have tried to do research on the web and see that TDI has an A+ rating but can't find much else available on TDI.

    Thanks in advance,
    James

Are you and your girlfriend planning to run teams? If so, contact some team companies and ask if they accept TDI training. One example is Benny Whitehead Trucking in Eufaula, AL. They do a lot of refrigerated West Coast/Florida/Southeast turns. Check their website. Plenty of other companies run teams.

Yes, we will be team driving. Our desire is to do OTR driving. Our kids are grown, have no limitations on where/when/how long we can be gone or go to.

I will definitely check into Benny Whitehead trucking. Thank you.

Once you both get 12 months experience might try something like Indian River Transport running teams. Need tanker endorsement. Either way, you will have plenty of options.

    emahevul Thanks this.

    In that part of florida,

not alot of schooling or job options.

You can check May Trucking, located in Pensacola.

A lot of helpful info provided to me so far, but going back to my original question, has anyone got any thoughts/feelings on TDI, the truck driving school in Milton, FL?

I stopped by there Friday and chatted with Lee. I got my GI Bill questions answered. He was a nice guy to chat with. My wife and I are thinking hard about team driving. We are both retired Air Force and looking for a change. Emahevul, keep us posted with your experience there.

I will do that. I too have talked to Lee.

I have to say that I do have a couple nagging doubts about TDI. It seems to be that there isn't a lot of communication between folks in recruiting in TDI. Seems when applying for financing at TDI they want you to have a co-signer no matter what. My fiancee has an 800 credit score, still needed a co-signer, seems crazy to me. I too needed a co-signer, but not super surprised by that as my credit score isn't that high. :biggrin_25522:

Also, a different recruiter is working with my fiancee (Tricia I think is her name). She told my fiancee that her financing was completed and then here we are a couple days before school begins and we find out that in fact her financing is still pending. Needless to say we are concerned that we will get a couple days into training and find out that she might have to begin on a different week.

But I will keep things updated, let you know how it goes.

Ugh. Long story there. I had everything all set up to go, quit my job and was all set to get going...........and then everything that could go wrong did. In a nutshell, I haven't as yet been to TDI. And in all likelyhood I won't be attending TDI. However, there is no fault on the part of TDI, it's stuff on my end that fell through.
