For a starter company, US Xpress is excellent as far as teams go. Plenty of miles, excellent pay.
CRST is teams only, plenty of miles, but much lower pay.
Those are the only two I have had experience with. -
Ive already got the jist of what you guys are saying...the recruiters say one thing but the drivers themselves tell a different story! We are leaning towards US Express at the moment simply because I haven't found a 'whole bunch' of negative reviews on them like most of the others. It's a releif after all the research I've done on these companies, my head was starting to spin lol
I've always been the kind of person who will do what it takes to succeed and I know you need to suck it up in the beginning in order to show your willingness to work, that's fine by me -

If your going to run teams Us Xpress will be a good company to work for. I'm a new driver for them right now and they run their teams very well. I've been in "team mode" with my trainer for the past 2 weeks and they've had us going all across the country non stop. And for the most part they will have the next load pre planned before you reach your destination with the load your already hauling. I've been to a bunch of terminals already and have talked with alot of drivers. Met a HW team today and they have been with USX since the early 90s and they are always on the move. They are lease operators and can take time off whenever they feel like but they keep on moving almost all the time. They had alot of great insight for me and were great to talk to. I've found that alot of USX drivers are really quite nice and seem to all generally like working for the company. Of course theres little things everyone complains about here and there like they had to wait awhile once or twice to get a call back from dispatch or something else. But compared to alot of other companies USX seems to be one of the better ones out here and has the freight to keep you moving!
Good luck out there and hope ya find the right company for you!Thephilteam Thanks this. -

we made it to our del 26 hrs...from laredo to santa paula...now are reloading 3 pickups going back to TX... -
That was my diet too! Sunflower seeds and Diet Coke! Actually eating sunflower seeds seem to really keep me awake and alert at night! Good little trick!
Satellite radio is a must! I am more of a talk show person though. Extreme talk, Coast to Coast (at night) Dave Ramsey, Comedy, Trucker Channel, Book channel. So many good programs to listen to! Oh yeah, and Margaritaville!!!
Philteam, you guys will develop an everyday schedule that you do from the time you wake up until you go to the sleeper that will keep you busy. It makes time go by actually pretty quickly! Its not at all like driving long distances in a car. I can drive cross country easily in a big truck but 5 hours in a 4 wheeler seems endless! Don't know why, just the way it is. We once rented a car to come home to Florida from Oklahoma while we were waiting on parts to get our truck fixed. That was the longest, my boring, torturing, monotonous ride I have ever endured!
Anybody else feel the same in a 4 wheeler? (could just be me)Giggles the Original Thanks this.
