Ummm I am a fattie and I'm losing weight quite well by both eating on the truck and in the truckstops. You are the decision maker in your life and thus choose what to put into your own mouth.
You can't have a microwave at least I haven't found a 12 volt one that I can afford. As for a fridge......same thing but you can use a 12 volt cooler. Thus you can pack it and keep fresh foods. The other thing you do is buy fresh ever few days. I do use canned foods but watch the fat and salt content closely. I avoid those premade meal things though. Other people use a regular cooler and pack it with ice.
Thanks BoostedTeg.
I don't always find Wal-Mart to be my friend as many w-ms no longer want trucks on their lots even as customers. Call first is my advice. However, small town grocery stores are a very different story and if you stop in a small town you may find roadside local vendors.
I'm getting better about finding what I want and need. The main thing I've found is to avoid the snacking I use to do unless it's carrots, celery, grapes, apples etc.
As for my hubby......he'll eat anything that doesn't attack and kill him first.

Are you kidding me? That man has eaten MY cooking for 27+ years! It's a GOOD thing he'll eat anything. Why the man SWEARS that the black burnt part of a meatloaf is his favorite part.He thinks hamburger helper is home cooking
These are reasons I adore that man and wouldn't trade him for Harrison Ford. Not to mention he'll wash dishes.

You can buy anything 12 volt at truckstops but the best deal on coolers is Wal-mart. Now you almost have to go to a truckstop for a lunch box oven unless you order offline. That is something you need for sure. I have two. You can cook fresh foods or heat stuff from cans, or frozen stuff from home. Just my opinion.
I use to be the crock pot queen but I find on the truck I use the lunch box oven a lot more than the crock pot.The Challenger Thanks this. -
