Exactly the difference..Nana has a DM that has contacts, also the Phoenix planners have carte blanche in getting freight..PHX truck keeps moving, and pre-planned prior to dropping and off they go. Lancaster planner (last I remember any way) doesn't "plan" at night..the planning and problem lines are transferred to either Memphis or Phoenix during night shift. There was your difference in getting miles. Not fair..never has been, and will always stay that way.

Well, we've changed to a dedicated fleet so we're no longer OTR. That'll be a change for us in miles, hometime and a number of things.

As for why we got more miles than y'all: I don't know. We did run out of PHX but I can tell you that when we got to other terminals and were suppose to be preplanned or dispatched we sometimes had to call our DM due to some strange things other terminal dispatch would pull on us. We have sat places waiting for freight but when we did we also kept in touch with our DM and would go in to the local dispatch and ask (bug? irritate?) them about freight. I can say that the DM we got was a sweetheart and if we go back to OTR we'll contact her first so she can get us back on her fleet. (she told us to, she likes us also).

I'm sure you didn't turn down runs etc, I only know that some areas have more freight. I know I hated going east with freight because there wasn't as much coming east to west. I don't have many answers because I'm so new, I only know what happens to us and those I know.

Nana, did you get on that Casa Grande fleet? :) Was just curious which one you wound up on. How do you like it so far?

    Nana,
Did you guys try to plan for the 34 hour reset location. It occurs to me its pretty tricky to not end up where you don't want to be. Hope that makes sense? The 70 hour rule can leave you stuck in some pretty crummy places. I have been thinking bout places to land for the reset to do some fishing etc..

Well I leave for school on Monday, and start school on Wednesday. I am about ready to go, just have to pack.

My friend (Team Driver) just worked his last day at his old job today. He is also ready to go. We are just going to spend time with our family's and our girl friends the next few days. But I am excited to start the training.

I would like to thank you for your very in depth reply to the previous post. You have explained it so well, you answered all my questions. My husband and I (yes we are a gay married couple) will be heading out on the road in march 2011. Going to a local school for CDL A we have a bunch of loose ends to tie up here in Baltimore. We know some one that works solo for swift he has been there 5 years and loves it. And I think we will be heading to Swift!!
